About SIMS Foundation
The SIMS Foundation was founded in 1995, as the nation’s first organization of its kind, focusing on the unique mental health needs of musicians.  Now in its 28th year, SIMS Foundation is the only organization in the country providing mental health and substance use recovery services for musicians, music industry professionals and their dependent family members to support the emotional well-being of our music community.  From our start in 1995 until now, SIMS has helped thousands of individuals, bands, and their families through lifesaving and life affirming services, and we hope to continue this invaluable work for decades to come.

How We Work
SIMS understands the unique challenges that come with working in the music industry, as well as those faced by their loved ones.  We work to meet our clients where they are in their pursuit of emotional well-being and overall health, striving to connect them to the most personalized and appropriate level of care.  Services are provided at little to no cost to the client, which is essential, given the inconsistent nature and regularly low level of income earned in the music industry.

Additionally, SIMS clinical staff work with a carefully crafted network of over 150 individual and group behavioral healthcare providers, who take a vastly reduced fee in order to work with SIMS clients as a way to give back to our music community.  Our SIMS Provider Network includes everything from individual therapists to acute psychiatric hospitals, as well as inpatient and outpatient treatment for those seeking recovery from substance use.

Community Leadership
SIMS Foundation is dedicated not only to our music community, but also to the overall well-being of our community at large. SIMS has been at the forefront of making emotional well-being a priority for our community for over 28 years, working to educate the public and to arm the music community with the resources needed to look out for themselves, and each other.

SIMS has been a leader in breaking down the stigma associated with mental health and substance use issues, and actively works with partner organizations to offer free trainings on mental health, substance use, and other social issues that impact all of us, such as homelessness and sexual harassment/assault.

SIMS Foundation Mission
The SIMS Foundation provides mental health and substance use recovery services and supports for musicians, music industry professionals, and their dependent family members. Through education, community partnerships, and accessible managed care, SIMS seeks to destigmatize and reduce mental health and substance use issues, while supporting and enhancing the well-being of the music community at large.
